SPARTA!!! "300" NAMED MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!
You heard it right, director Zack Synder's adaptation of Frank Miller's "300" was named 2007 movie of the year at the 11th Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and it beat out summer favorites "HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX," "TRANSFORMERS," and "SPIDER-MAN 3."

I enjoyed "300," it was quite visionary (watch my pic's review below), and I predict it will receive Oscar nominations for all its technical/visual glory.

Here's a list of the other winners at the Hollywood awards:

BEST DOCUMENTARY: "KNEE DEEP" by Michael Chandler

BEST SHORT SUBJECT: "KNEE DEEP" by Michael Chandler

BEST ANIMATED SHORT SUBJECT: "KNEE DEEP" by Michael Chandler

BEST MUSIC VIDEO: TIMZ "IRAQ" by Timz, aka Tommy Hanna

HOLLYWOOD WORLD AWARD:
"4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS and 2 DAYS" directed by Cristian Mungiu

Richard Gere, Marion Cotillard, John Travolta, Jennifer Connelly, Ellen Page and Casey Affleck received acting honors; Neil Meron and Craig Zadan for producing; Ben Affleck and Marc Forster for directing; and the cast of "HAIRSPRAY" for ensemble acting.

"RATATOUILLE" received animation honors!

Take a look at my review of "300":

SCORSESE DICAPRIO REUNITE FOR "GONE BABY GONE" AUTHOR
This is great news!

First, it's "The Aviator," then, the fantastic "The Departed," now, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will reteam for "Shutter Island," an adaptation of a Dennis Lehane novel.

Pic will be co-produced by Paramount and Columbia.

This is interesting, the producer of TV's "Bionic Woman," will be writing the script, Laeta Kalogridis. But she also wrote "Birds of Prey" and "Nochnoy dozor" ("Night Watch") AND "Alexander." Yikes! All I can say is she better turn a great script!

So what's "Shutter Island" really about? Let Google Book Search explain,

"The year is 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new partner, Chuck Aule, have come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the disappearance of a patient. Multiple murderess Rachel Solando is loose somewhere on this remote and barren island, despite having been kept in a locked cell under constant surveillance. As a killer hurricane bears relentlessly down on them, a strange case takes on even darker, more sinister shades -- with hints of radical experimentation, horrifying surgeries, and lethal countermoves made in the cause of a covert shadow war. No one is going to escape Shutter Island unscathed, because nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. But then neither is Teddy Daniels.

"MEET THE ROBINSONS" COMES TO DVD, SEE MY REVIEW!
Walt Disney Pictures' "Meet the Robinsons" arrives in DVD so let's travel back to the future, well actually in March 2007 when the movie opened in theaters, and I did my review and interviews with the cast and crew including director Stephen J. Anderson.

I had a blast in front of the green screen with my favorite character, Dino!

HAVE FUN!
