Not only will the fantastic Joss Whedon return to the world of "The Avengers" as writer/director, he will also develop a live action Marvel-themed TV show for ABC according to Disney chief Bob Iger during an earnings call with analysts.
It's not surprising that Disney is holding on to Whedon since "The Avengers" has earned nearly $1.5 billion worldwide! The film's U.S. box-office take of $616.8 million makes it the third highest-grossing film of all time after "Avatar" and "Titanic."
Variety is reporting that there were no other details regarding Whedon's Marvel TV show but ABC is also developing a reboot of "Incredible Hulk" the TV series. Remember the show with Lou Ferrigno and Bill Bixby? I grew up on that series next to "Wonder Woman" of course! Well, the reboot will star Guillermo del Toro. Perfect!
"Avengers 2" is likely to be released in 2015.
Honestly, are you feeling a little bit of Marvel overindulgence? With all these planned Marvel movies coming out, isn't it too much of a good thing? Whedon is a great storyteller, so I have faith that he can come up with a fantastic sequel -- but "Ant-Man?" Really?
