Will Director Marc Webb Return for "Amazing Spider-Man" Sequel? My Spidey Sense Says Yes!

Did you like the latest "The Amazing Spider-Man?" I did, even though I had the sense of deja vu. But still, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone turned in memorable performances (they may be better than Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, but I love both "Spider-Man" couples), I also enjoyed the special effects and the spider-like qualities of our hero, and the best part? I sensed great creative control from director Marc Webb. But will he return for a sequel?

The latest "Spider-Man" incarnation continues to spin money at the box-office, so Columbia Pictures wants Webb back. According to the LA Times:

Sony wants Webb back for a planned spring 2014 sequel (with $650 million in global box office for the first movie, why wouldn't it?). Maybe more crucially, the director wants to return too.

Furthermore, Webb, if he's returning, will have brand new writers --
Alex Kurzman and Roberto Orci, the guys who gave us the excellent "Star Trek" reboot, who are writing with James Vanderbilt.

So should Webb return? He better! Just like Christopher Nolan with his Batman trilogy, Webb is the auteur behind this new Spider-Man. Oh yeah, just like Sam Raimi before him.
