I almost choked while reading the story about Universal and Mattel in cahoots to give us a live-action film based on the plastic beauty known as Barbie!
Clearly, Universal wanted to match Dreamworks' luck with "Transformers" but come on y'all, giant robots will always win at the box-office compared to a spoiled blond beauty who loves to stay in her Malibu digs.
Where's the narrative drama to that plot?
Sure, the 50-year-old Barbie has 99% worldwide brand recognition, but that doesn't mean that brand awareness means good movie! I heard that the producers are going to canvass writers and decide on a creative take for a family-friendly movie. Can we just offer an advice and scrap the darn project?
Here's the bottom line: Barbie is so out-of-step with today's society that it's almost comical to think that her ideals are good enough to be put on the big screen. But hey, that's actually an interesting plot. An out-of-step Barbie trying to fit in...hhhmmm...
Also, who's going to star? Barbie is soooo perfect, we need a life-sized beauty to fill in her shoes. Oh yeah, what about these beauties from a Mac make-up shoot which was inspired by Barbie herself!

Or, if desperate enough, what about Ru Paul?
